The Home-cage Operant Panel (HOP) is a new simple and low-cost programmable apparatus to test rodents and primate behavior into their home cages. This will help to limit the stress due to handling and exposure to non familiar environment.

The system allows individual recognition so that animals single or in group can be tested at the same time.

Behaviour can be automatically recorded continuously and undisturbed for extended periods and it is possible to achieve a successful conditioning already within seven days in rats. This will help to reduce the experimental work and conditioning time.

Different stimuli and reinforcements can be combined with specific operant responses (see table below).
